PHARMACOKINETICS
Absorption of metronidazole following vaginal topical administration is low and its bioavailability is about 20 – 25 %
3 – 10 % of the vaginally applied dose of Clotrimazole is absorbed.
INDICATIONS
GYNOMED -M, vaginal cream is indicated for the treatment of cervical vaginitis and vulvo-vaginitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, even in cases where the germ is associated with Candida albicans, Gardnerella vaginalis and other sensitive bacteria. Also GYNOMED -M, vaginal cream can be used as a prophylactic treatment by the partner.
CONTRA INDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation.
SIDE EFFECTS
Due to poor absorption of metronidazole and clotrimazole after topical administration, systemic adverse reactions are not expected. Occasionally, events may occur by local irritation, contact allergic dermatitis.
PRECAUTIONS
The recommended contemporary oral use of metronidazole is subject to the contraindications, adverse effects and warnings described for the product mentioned above.
Gynomed – M ovules should not be used in infants and pregnant women particularly in the 1st semester and only if clearly needed, under the direct supervision
DOSAGE:
The content of the applicator is inserted deeply into the vagina once a day, preferably at bed time. The medicine will be applied at least for 6 consecutive days. In Trichomoniasis, it is recommended to increase the efficacy by concomitant use of oral metronidazole in both non pregnant woman and her partner.
